“Dopamine” is a short-term chemical that triggers animal instincts and satisfaction. Sex is one of the most basic and entwined animal instincts we have.
Dopamine can be produced in the brain with sex, sexual visuals, with alcohol, cocaine, adrenaline rush (sky diving) and morphine. Does this mean it’s “Bad” like alcohol & cocaine? It depends on the person’s ability to handle self-control. We know people who can have one glass of wine and be satisfied … and there are those who will have a glass of wine, then need a margarita, then a case of beer. The person with control is okay to drink while the person without control is unable to drink. So too is it with getting the sexual feeling from visual stimulants. Men are more visual creatures while women go for the words (voice, intone, volume) & smell. When this is triggerd a rush of dopamine chemicals flooding the primitive part of the brain. Some get “addicted” to this feeling. Just like with alcohol and other chemical substances, those addicted usually get “Numb” and need more creative ways to get the original feeling/rush. This is when “Sex Addiction & Perversions” start to run rampant.
Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern psychoanalysis and an atheist, observed: "The abandonment of the reproductive function is the common feature of all perversions. We actually describe a sexual activity as perverse if it has given up the aim of reproduction and pursues the attainment of pleasure as an aim independent of it."

People have been viewing pornography for as long as humans have been able to draw or paint. If viewing pornography on a regular basis was in any way harmful, why didn't these harmful effects manifest themselves in those appointed to be censors in the last century? More harm was done by making pornography illegal. This inevitably provided yet another product for organised crime.

I am sure it is harmful to the woman whos husband would rather watch some skank get nailed than be intimate with her! There are somethings that can happen if you see a lot of this. First off men have an unrealistic idea of what average women look like, and they are not the ones in porn who get thier jobs based on that reason. Also, most women arent going to be quite as wild and nasty as those depicted in those things and it could make men think that spontaneous sex with strangers happens all the time, so what happens when they make a play for it and get shot down?
Men might see the "size" of the men in these videos and feel inadequate, or a woman could think they are going to find that sort of thing with any guy...
Its basically about unreaslistic expectations...

I believe it depends on how far they go in what they watch, and how they participate. I guess for some people, they may go a little wacko. But some people may be more mature than others, and realize it doesnt have to be such a big deal. I also believe with the first answer. Its about unrealistic scenarios, scenarios in which people think their most wildest dreams could come true, so people may get a little weird.

Pornography has a lot of non-sexual reasons ... a very good ebook on the topic is by M. Brocallo http://www.brocallo.net.tf (not in good English, but the theories are interesting ...)
