The show can be a little racy, but it is all up to the interpretation of the director. It is a great show though, originally choreographed by Bob Fosse (another reason why it can be a bit racy... his choreography tends to be that way).
It is about a boy named Pippin who struggles to find his "Corner of the Sky". With the "Leading Player" leading narrating him through many different scenes, he tries everything that life has to offer (Including illicit sex which is another way that the show can be really racy depending on how the director chooses to portray that scene). At the end, he isn't sure what he wants and the leading player along with the other players try to get him to commit suicide. (Yeah, I know... it is really weird). That is when Pippin realizes that he really has found what he wanted out of life and the show ends. For a more in depth synopsis, check out Wikipedia, that is just the basic plot of the show.
If I were you, I would audition and I would ask the director how he/she is going to go about doing some of the scenes. This will not be an embarrassing question considering the nature of the show. In fact, I would be willing to bet that they have already received many concerns regarding the topic. Pippin can be a really fun show to be a part of, but if you are not comfortable with the way that they are going to do it, I would wait until someone else is going to put the production on in a way that you are comfortable with. I would not be comfortable with a very raw version of the show. When I performed it before, it was very tasteful and there was no nudity and I also opted out of the big orgy scene (which they still tamed a lot).
Good luck with your decision and with your audition if you do decide to do the show!
P.S. Charlamagne is in the show, but it isn't about him... it is about Pippin.

It's a great musical about Pippin, son of Charlemagne. It's about his trying to avoid turning into his father, and growing up. There are some really great songs in it, including one called "My Little Corner of the Sky". The original choreography was by Bob Fosse. It can be a little racy, depending on how it is staged, but there is nothing in the words or lyrics to offend anyone. It is available on videotape-not the Broadway version but a good one none the less.

It's a musical about Charlamagne and you will find a description below.
It is all about interpretation. The costumes can be scant and so can the choreography... BUT, a director can tone it down like crazy and still create a great show.
You will definitly need a strong male (young) lead, which is small areas can be very hard to find. And you will need a really good dancer/singer. So, it could be rough to cast...

Hasn't this been resolved? Perhaps there is a video of it you can rent and see if it is too racy. It's a lot of "Jazz Dance." It was very popular as a Broadway musical.
