I have a 2007 Scion tC and I've been wanting to boost it but like every turbo I've looked at says you have to need a manual trans. Whats up with that?

The problem with aftermarket turbos is they are much more powerful than the OEMs are. When the turbo kicks in after building up enough exhaust gas pressure, the kick may be too strong for most stock automatics to be able to handle.

Perhaps you might want to consider installing a supercharger. There is absolutely no lag and they can deliver a lot more power. Since there is no lag you can run it with your stock transmission.

OK I'm a little rusty on this one but if i remember right it can be done but there are extra computer controllers you need to make it done right, all the factory automatic/turbo cars are designed with this stuff

Maybe the auto can't handle the extra power and will tear it up.
