Grady Sizemore is not currently voted as a starting outfielder for the AL, but instead Ichiro, Mag Ordonez, Vlad Guerrero. I agree with Mags and Vlad, but does anyone else think sizemore should be ahead of ichiro?

Ichiro definitely deserves the start over Sizemore. He's hitting 80 points higher, has more RBIs, has a higher OPS (big stat for leadoff hitters), is a better fielder (more assists, less errors - 0 to be exact). Sizemore's power numbers are the only thing he's got going for him, so no he shouldn't be starting over Ichiro.

The guy that said he'd take Sizemore over Ichiro based on the stats, obviously hasn't looked at the stats.

As much as I would like to see Sizemore there I really can't say that Ichiro doesn't belong there in place of him with these numbers.

Ichiro - .362 hr's-5 rbi's- 38 runs -53 sb -22
Sizemore - .282 hr's-13 rbi's- 35 runs- 65 sb -22

The Mariners are not very good yet Ichiro has put up nice numbers while Sizemore plays for 1st place Indians a scoring machine.

good question.. I would pick Sizemore over Ichiro based on stats, but the All star selection is based on a popularity contest too often..

Also, the real debate is the two best young centerfielders in the game are Sizemore and Granderson.. who's more deserving.. Statistically, it's a dead heat.. Both lead off
Granderson has a slighlty higher batting average, Granderson is also only the ninth guy in baseball to have double figures in doubles, triples and homers and the season is only half way.. Sizemore has a bit more power, steals more bases, but gets thrown out more, (barely) Sizemore also strikes out more.. defensively, it's very close.. Granderson's career fielding percentage is higher.. has more assists in fewer games and plays in a bigger centerfield.. And.. Granderson wasn;t even on the all-star ballot..

Sizemore will likely go to the game. He just doesn't have the name recognition to win the popular vote that Ichiro has, even though Sizemore is a better player.

irchiro is doing much better than sizemore. He is second in batting average in the majors and has the same stolen base record of 22-2. sizemore has twice as many strike outs and less triples too. So sizemore is not better then ichiro

Yeaaaa, no. Ichiro leads the league in hits, and is batting over .340. Sizemore struggles 2 bat over .300

I think they are pretty even, but the popularity vote goes to Ichiro. Sizemore will definetely be a backup though.
