Could not have been Sky Breaking News.
When they "break" the news, they know so little about the story that the newsreaders try to stretch the story out, but have no additional input to add to what has already appeared in the banner announcement.
Consequently, the comments made in the interview, would not have appeared in Breaking News!
Sky Breaking News fits well into the subject category, "Myths and Folklore".

The only thing on sky news's website (http://news.sky.com/skynews/home) about mermaids is about a child with a genetic abnormality that caused her to be born with her legs fused together. The subsequent stories dealt with the surgeries required to separate her legs.
If you have information to the contrary, feel free to post it here as an addendum to your question in the form of a weblink.

there is not any longer something shall we do. fortunate for us that the biggest asteroid interior the photograph voltaic gadget is in simple terms approximately six hundred miles in diameter. or perhaps luckier is that the biggest asteroid in an Earth crossing orbit is in simple terms approximately 10 miles huge. So there is 0 danger any asteroid bigger than 10 miles will ever hit Earth. If we've been monitoring a 10 mile huge asteroid and had twenty years warning, there is an possibility shall we deflect it. yet there is not any way shall we do something approximately an asteroid with in basic terms some days warning, no count number how small that's. and there is not any way shall we deflect a 2,500 mile asteroid (if one existed), no count number how lots warning we had.
