The problem with Harry being a horcrux is that Voldemort wants him dead. The reason for creating a horcrux is to have some place to store a piece of your soul that will hopefully keep it safe should anything happen to you. In essence, a horcrux gives it's maker a measure of immortality. As long as the horcrux exists, the maker can not die.
A living being can be used, but it's terribly risky. Living being can die, either because their killed or for some other reason (an accident of some kind or some sort of natural causes), and if they are a horcrux, they will take the piece of the horcrux maker's soul into death with them. A non-living horcrux must be physically destroyed in some form. For example, when Dumbldore destroyed Marvolo's ring as a horcrux, it's black stone ended up being cracked. Riddle's diary, the first known horcrux of Voldemort's to be destroyed, had a hole through it where Harry had stabbed it with the basilisk's fang. A living being need not be destroyed, they just need to die.
Since Voldemort wants to kill Harry, he's not about to risk his own "immortality" by making Harry a horcrux. Making him a horcrux and then killing him will bring Voldemort that much closer to his own death.
As for Neville being the choosen one, I'm afraid not quite. Dumbledore's already explained it to Harry. "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches ... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies ... And the Dark Lord will mark him as equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not ... And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives." Both Harry and Neville fit the prophecy, so it was up to Voldemort to select which one would be the choosen one. And he selected Harry as his greatest threat. Harry's scar is the mark that shows Voldemort made him the choosen one.
On you're additional info, Mrs. Norris may be part house cat and part kneazle like Crookshanks is. Kneazles are cat-like creatures with the ability to detect someone who is acting suspicious, or who is unsavory. They react badly to such people (remember how Crookshanks kept trying to attack Scabbers, he wasn't just hunting, he could sense that Scabbers wasn't a rat). Their also highly intelligent and can be crossbreed with a house cat. The resulting crossbreed would be a perfect spy for someone like Filch.

The prophecie says... " The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches.... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...".... that means The person that can kill Voldemort is about to be born at the end of July... born to parents who have escaped Voldemort 3 times... Voldemort MARKS him AS HIS EQUAL.... Voldemort marked Harry as his equal... the prophecie could have ment Harry or Neville but Voldemort chose who was to be the CHOSEN ONE.... Neville is pure-blood Harry is Half-Blood like Voldemort... To the whole if Harry is a horcrux theory... Ilike that theory but it doesnt mean Harry has to kill himself...try reading What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7... it has some really interesting points... hope I helped!!

OK..this is horrible...but I think that definitely one of the trio is dying. I am almost to terms with Harry dying...I dont think I can deal with either Ron or Hermione dying, though. You wanna know why? It's been too long, those idiots need to get it into their heads that they're madly in love with each other and get together and marry and have a family and twenty thousand kids (u know what i mean). If Harry dies, Ginny'll be heartbroken and I'll feel sorry for her but I think she'll get over it, somehow. She's a strong person. However, if one of Ron/Hermione dies and the other survives, I dont think that either of them is strong enough to live a life without the other. I guess I'd like it better to see them both die (preferably together). Now, the sunshiny person that I am, that's my stand on the Romance in this book.
Just in case someone still has a doubt about my position in the Will-Harry-Die-Or-Not debate, I am counting on him dying. JK's been hinting on it for sometime...and as much as I loooove Harry (he's my lovah) and as much of a heartbreak it's going to be for me (and a million others) to see him die, I am pretty sure that he's going to kick the bucket. For those who disagree, here are my reasons:
1. It took FOREVER for Dumbledore--who, by the way, happens, oops, happened *sob sob* to be the greatest wizard ever---to find TWO measly horcruxes. Do you think that Harry, even with the whole Order and everyone else behind him, will be able to equal that power and genius that too within the limited scope of an year? I think not. Sooo, that's my first reason.
2. Second reason, even if Harry manages to, by some extraordinarily magical means, to destroy ALL of the remaining THREE horcruxes within the time constraint, he still has to face Voldy....who's not really Neville when it comes to duelling. I'd like to see how in the world Voldy could be in a disadvantaged position against Harry in magical prowess and also how Harry manages to cast the Killing Curse without a flinch--even though it IS voldy. (hmmm...)
3. Plus, in one of her interviews, JK told the interviewer that the reason people killed off their characters was so no other author could re-awaken this character and further the story. And honestly, that TOTALLY sounds like something JK would do.
I think that the above are perfectly sane reasons to prepare ourselves for Harry's death. I, for one, just dont want to be caught unawares and have decided that preparing myself for the worst but hoping for the best is the best way to go. I do, however, hope that I'm wrong and that my cynical predictions turn out to be utterly false.
I hope that's given you some material to think over. Have fun spinning your own theories!

I bet Harry turns out to be a Horcrux because Voldemort put part of his soul into Harry which is why Harry can speak snakeish or whatever and can think like Voldemort sometimes. They are connected. I highly doubt Neville has anything to do with it. Harry has to figure out a way to get Voldemort's soul out of himself without killing himself.

oOoOoO let us gather indeed, ha.
I'm so excited! Countdowns everywhere of course.
I'm not sure about Harry being a horocrux. It would make since, but J. K. Rowling being predictable? Nonsense. I think Harry will still probably die but for another reason. I've heard so much about Harry being the horocrux I would be surprised if she did make it him.
I remember in the 5th (or was 6th?) book Hagrid tells his class that the ppl who can see the black horsey thing pulling carrages are the ppl who have seen someone die. Neville, Harry, and Luna all said they could see them... Hagrid asked Nevill who he had seen killed but didn't ask Luna. So I wonder who Luna had seen, or is it obvious? I do need to reread them all again..

JK loves to be unpredictable, so no one can actually be sure. I think it'll be Harry. Because, then it will be the actual end, and if Hermione dies, the Voldemort will still be alive. So that Harry and Voldemort won't still be fighting, but you just don't know what about scince it's the end of the series.

It makes sense that it could be Harry's scar. This goes along with my question...see "The crookshanks discussion..." JK did say that two main characters would die. But, the whole world would be mad at her if she killed of Harry don't you think? But then again, that would keep other authors from writing about him for years after. Something to ponder...

I'm baffled that you can enjoy American Beauty AND Harry Potter. American Beauty is one of the best films of the last decade and Harry Potter is easily the most overrated trash fiction in the history of the world.

Some kid on a website said he somehow hacked into a computer system that had the manuscript on it. He posted on a website that he read it and said that Hermione dies saving Ron. We'll see if he's right, he may be full of it. I wish I could remember the website.
