There should be a way through modern technology but I don't know
But I have heard the generation before me--and I am pretty old lol-- speak of the peach tree twig. I honestly think it worked for some (maybe not all) Peach tree twig shaped i a "Y". Hold the "Y"--top part with each hand--bottom part away from you sticking upward. The water below ground would pull the part sticking outward--downward. Don't know if there was any other tricks to it or not. It may have taken a talented person--extra senses--to do this. You might think I am crazy--but back then, they had tricks to their trade. Had to dig wells (literally by hand) for their water. Hope you get a better answer than this. lol

Synchronize your watches. Dump in a pulse of uranine (sodium fluorescein), and monitor all possible outlets with UV light. About 1 ppm is clearly seen. Time delay and distance gives minimum flow velocity. Given a spectrophotometer you can calibrate concentration and then get dilution and flow volume.

Rhodamine adsorbs on clay and is carcinogenic.
