Aishiteruze Baby. It is a little dramatic, but has some cute parts in it as well. The main character, Kippei, is a high schooler who is forced to watch over his little cousin Yuzu (short for Yuzuyu), and ends up enjoying his time with her after all.

I'm showing my age, but check out Kimagure Orange Road.
It was incredibly popular in the 1980s, and though it doesn't involve magic per se, the chief character possesses secret psionic powers--primarily telekinesis--that get him into funny situations and help him deal with the love triangle he finds himself in as soon as he moves into a new town.
