You have to become a doctor and specialize. Certainly, you have to take premed. You could also opt to become a nurse and then, later, a midwife. This would allow you to work with pregnant women and deliver their babies, just not perform cesareans.

You will have to take all the premed requirements. That means 1 full year of general premed biology, chemistry, organic chemistry and physics. You will need to go to four full years of medical school and additional years of specialty clinical training to become specialized in your desired field. That may depend on what exctly you want to do. I would assume any of the major state schools in Florida or Georgia would be fine. If I were you, I would try to go to a state school in your home state because all the years of school will add up and you will want your debt to be as little as possible. Good luck future Dr. Tin Tin.

I'd suggest the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Shands Medical Center is a top-notch place to learn. Good luck.

4 years pre-med + 4 years medical school + 2 years residency (on-the-job-training in a hospital) = 10 years. Also to be board certified in OB/Gyn I think it's another 2-5 years.
