You are obviously the mature one. And mature people don't allow others' immaturity to stand in their way of doing the things that must be done. Teenagers mature at different rates, so just enjoy the fact that you are now experiencing the things that your sister has yet to experience: for one, the satisfaction of realizing that you have done a good job to try and help your mom celebrate her birthday. You are very unselfish and kind and hard-working, while your sister has not yet learned these traits or she does not use them. You will go far in life, so don't be upset about your sister's shortcomings. She will learn in time. You are the faster learner on these lessons in life. Why don't you approach her and suggest that the both of you chip in to do something for your mom, and give her a card that indicates this, like "We did this (maybe preparing her breakfast in bed from the both of you) for you, from both of us." If she still refuses, just understand that she will have to learn better behaviour at her own rate of learning. Then move on, and don't worry about it. Someday, she'll see that you are working hard, and maybe pick up your good habits. Also realize that your sister could just be a lazy slob. Good luck. Your mom raised a pretty cool daughter.

Just go about your business and clean the house and do the best job that you can... I'm sure your mom knows your sister is a lazy pain in the butt.. Hope your mom has a happy birthday and it's nice of you to help her out....

Just ask her again if she would´t mind helping you , after all you don´t want all the credit for doing all the housework for your mum . which I think is very nice of you to do this for her. Your mum will know anyway , that you did the work and not her. We mother´s know our kid´s. If she decides that it´s all to much for her, just tell your mum , sorry I could´t buy you a present so I cleaned the house for you. she will be happy with that. Some people are just born lazy.

I have the same problem as you do. You should just tell your sister to get off the couch and help you out. Tell her it's not fair that you have to do all of the work around the house while she gets to relax and that you would appreciate it if she would help out. Plus the work can get done faster with an extra helping hand.

There is nothing you can do about it. Your sister wil always be that way until she goes on her own. Even then she will refuse to clean her own house

i dont think it is posssible for YOU to make HER do anything. if it was your mother maybe, but you no. i have a lazy little brother and he has never listened to me. i think you should get over it and do things yourself.
