Believe it or not a woman on her period does make a difference. Not a huge one, but one nonetheles. However it is not the actual blood that causes the difference. There is a chemical a womans body puts off during her monthly cycle that they have found can make a difference.
Do not feel however that you cannot go in the water when you are on your period, just be smart about it. Do not go swimming alone or at dawn/dusk. Do not wear a swimsuit with extreme contrasting colors. No jewerly. No swimming in waters where there are people fishing right by. The normal stuff that anyone has to worry about, not just a woman on her cycle.
If you want a good info site about it check out the ISAF.

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here https://tr.im/TYHbL
Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.

Sharks can sense extremely small amounts of blood, so the simplified answer is probably yes. However, there are a lot of living things in the ocean, and therefore a lot of blood, and I think the chances of a shark singling out a menstruating woman from the sea of bleeding animals, and going through the trouble to travel that close to the shore, are probably slim.

Any amount of blood from any source could have the potential to attract a shark. As well as many fish species. Don't forget, sharks are not the only predator in the sea.
And Jersey dude. What has ovulation got to do with menstruation? Duh Do women you know bleed during ovulation?

Sharks are capable of sensing 1ppm of blood, so I would assume that yes, women on their period would attract sharks in a close range, since menstral fluid is less than half blood. A tampon would help, but I believe a shark would still be capable of sensing that small amount that would be dissolved.

I would think that if she is wearing a tampon she would be OK. You don't want to be bleeding in the ocean to start with. Ewwwww.
But I could be wrong, those guys seem to have super senses.
