I ask because I am brave enough now to go out dressed as a woman...or just, as I see it, cross dressed, wearing the clotehs of a women but looking like a man. I guess if more men did this, the stigma 'might' go away one day...but my question is..are we trying to present as women, or just a feminised version of ourselves? Down to personal prefence at the end of the day, I don't mind either - but it's fun to dress fully as a woman - although more effort involved I guess. By the way all men should wear bras under their clothes (they are good for the back after all!!)

I am grateful for the comments -negative or positive as we all have an opinion. I would just us to get to a state where we really live and let live, even if certain things we are actually against, we support people's right to do as they please. Womens clothes are just too lovely to ignore, and yep..helps me de-stress so much it is good for the health, so where's the harm, really?

Oh,I just wanted to add that I really feel the crux of this is embracing feminity - a beautiful thing that is to be loved, not feared, in men. As a cross dresser presenting as male or female, but wearing her attire,I would still shave legs so they look good (and they do I think!!). As on the Chanel No5 site femininity is timeless!

Follow your heart, do what makes you feel good inside. Don't listen to what other negitive, ignorant people have to say.
I'm glad you think bras are good for the back, I hate them.

Very good point. Most transvestites advice services advise people how to look convincing like a female to 'pass' and if everyone 'passed' no one would know they were men dressed as women, so they wouldn't have to face up to the fact.
Transvestites should wear what they like, how they like. I know one who went into Burtons dressed as a man, they are a men's clothes shop, but they had tennis skirts, so he bought one, put it on and walked out the shop wearing it.
It takes all sorts.
The transvestites in Little Britain, even the one with a moustache, are perfectly acceptable.

If your a transvestite i think you should dress in whatever clothes you feel comfortable in, whether those are men's clothes or women's clothes. Some transvestites are more comfortable dressing like a women and actually looking like one than just wearing the clothes. Don't let other people's comments get you down. And a word of advice, if your going to wear a dress, skirt or tight jeans, i suggest you tape your penis down to your leg so as nothing gets too "revealed".

Dress as you wish to dress. I know transvestites who go out looking like women and some that are clearly men in women's clothes and at least one post-op transsexual who looks very masculine. I don't worry about it any more if I want or need to go out when I am "dressed" I do. It does nobody any harm and I do not understand why some people get unset about it

Wear whatever you want. I commend you on being able to go out in public like that. Being outside of the norm is a scary thing if you let it be. I'm a female and i sometimes fear those looks i get in the women's restrooms when they see me in my baggy jeans my short hair and t-shirt. They confuse me for a boy from time to time. I wear what's comfortable but i sometimes get funny looks. Good on ya

i think its a feminised version of ourselves. its certainly not as a woman - its definitely presenting an alternative to our male selves thats for sure.
oh and to the people saying, dont do it cos my kids will ask questions. since when was it wrong for kids to ask questions - dont we want to encourage our kids to talk about stuff. brushing stuff under the carpet never got us anywhere but hurt it seems to me.
i dont think the stigma will go - the otherness and difference will always be an issue.
anyway good for you and just be happy in your skin i say.

I used to go out in a trouser suit over a blouse with loafers or other flat shoes. The doormen at the tranny clubs would often ask if I knew what sort of club it was, ie they didn't realise I was wearing women's clothes.

Please do it at home, or do it under your normal clothes. Clothing is crossing the gender-specific divide slowly, as is society's attitudes. Given long enough, all taboos and stigmas will be removed as clothing/gender/orientation etc becomes more unisexual. Dont rush it though please, kids ask enough questions without having to explain things that even you, as a transvestite/cross-dresser dont know the answer to.
If you did, you wouldn't be asking, would you.
Any before i get criticised, i personally very much enjoy the feeling of silk under jeans ;)
