I go to UT Austin and I am thinking about joining a frat but I dont drink, I dont like the house that I would live in, and I dont like the scene, but other than that, ive heard of other frat guys who have gotten some really nice jobs that pay really well just because they were in the frat and got many connections. what do you guys think?

If you don't picture yourself a "frat" kinda guy than it's best that you don't join...There are other fraternal type organizations to join that don't just drink and party. There are educational organizations and philathropic one's as well. If you aren't into that "scene" they probably won't be into you either... My husband was/is in a fraternity and the guys are great for the past 7 yrs. we all get together for a weekend with the families. It's very nice and not all "Animal House". However, it was like Animal House back in the day... ! Yes, it can be a good contact to be in a fraternity for after college, if you stay in contact with your brothers its' all in what you make of the experience...

I dont know about that. But I really think if you want a nice paying job, Experience is way more important. Why dont you take up an internship or volunteer somewhere. I think that looks way better on a resume, than being in a frat.

Jobs are given to those who can do them, the old boy network has been dieing, especially for middle management jobs for years and years now. Frat boys are no more or less likely to get hired

If getting a job working with a bunch of people you don't like is worth years of hazing, heavy drinking, and immature behavior, then I say go for it.
