that has been tried already, google the era of prohibition.
all it did was lead to greater crimes. people have to be held individually responsible for their actions is all that has to happen.

At one time in the military if you didn't "go get a beer (which usually turned out to be a lot of beer) with the guys" You didn't fit in and were shunned by your peers. Today it's all different. Even one DUI can result in severe punishments. Alcohol only does one thing....ruin the lives of good people. I quit drinking many years ago. And thankful that I did. I say ban alcohol and tobacco both. We'd have a healthier society. No offense to any smokers or drinkers out there.

I believe your question well meaning, but the line of thought scares me. Yes, certain things certainly can be harmful, but does that mean that we should ban all things that are potentially harmful?

Motorcycle accidents are terrible and ruin lives. Should we ban motorcycles. Cardiovascular disease kills the most people in America. Should we ban fried foods?

The beauty of freedom is the ability to make choices for ourselves. Yes, some of those choices may harm us. However, the alternative is a totalitarian nanny state that regulates all aspects of life with the goal of "keeping us safe."

As one poster already pointed out, the ban on alcohol in the 20s was FAR worse than the "evil" of alcohol itself.

Your question is muddy. Understand what booze is and does first. Yes its bad for most people, because humans are addicts. I was with an alcy for five years and it drained my spirit, to see the pain it caused for her and it pained me to see the conscience joy of being intoxicated. Scary stuff.

Stick to a one drink per hour rule, and never drive after even one drink. Cabs are cheaper then death. Death is not worth a buzz. Peace and Love and I hope this helps!! :)

When I first experimented with it, I missed work and almost got fired, my parents didn't trust me as much anymore, and I felt really crappy for 2 days.

I think it should be made illegal because of all the deaths it causes. But I think marijuana, shrooms, lsd, and some other drugs should be made legal because they aren't as bad for you and won't cause people to drive while impaired. You can actually make rational decisions while on these drugs, or even if you can't with lsd you definitely won't drive. They also don't have any physical addiction potential, unlike alcohol.

alcoholism is a horrible disease. It ruins family, Friends and other lives not just your own. It kills thousands every year and thousand of innocent ppl as well. My brother is a alcoholic, he has no regard for his own life or anyone else for that matter.
