Ya...you switched to formula...that's what's wrong....Babies diet is different...consequently...his/her movements will be different
However...you have just described ...perfectly normal formula poo.
So unless it is too "solid" and causing pain...you don't have anything to worry about.
***Please don't listen to the guy that is telling every mother on yahoo to give her baby aspirin and honey...those can cause botulism and internal bleeding. Do yourself a favor, and go buy "What To Expect The First Year" ...it can answer all your questions...without having to risk getting crazy advice from the yahoo peanut gallery.

It's normal for poop to be different colors when breastfeeding but on formula the color and texture should be consistent (of course every baby will have what's normal for them). The poop should be more solid on formula (that's normal) but if it's very dense and dry, your baby might be having trouble digesting the formula.
With my son, he had a difficult time when we initially started on formula. He got gas, and constipation and fussiness. We ended up changing formula many times and warming the water we used to make the formula in order to ensure it was fully dissolved before giving it to him. That really helped out a lot.
Also, for gas, there are anti-gas drops (Mylicon is the brand name but the generic works just as well).

I agree with everyone, totally normal. The solid part could be in the change in iron in his system. My baby is 5 months and we still struggle with solid poopies. My Doc said to add a little prune juice to her formula and that helps a lot! Not that I think YOU should do that, consult your Doc for sure! Breast fed babies poop so much better than formula fed babies anyway! I can't believe I am talking poop!LOL

Most likely it's because you changed his type of formula and it will go back to normal once your baby adjusts to it. My daughter had to be switched from regular to soy and hers was not the norm either for a couple of days. My daughter is on formula and her poop is mustardy yellow and loose so where people assume it's just because you're formula feeding and not breastfeeding is beyond me!!!! Good Luck!!!

Breastfed babies are the only ones that have the soft, mustard, seedy poop. Green and more solid is normal for a formula fed baby.

I first wanted to let you know it is normal, he is not sick. Babies BM's are different when you feed them different things. Second, regarding the message by Little Peter, NEVER give your babies those three items. I don't know what kind of doctor you are, but those three things alone can make an infant very very ill. I can't imagine what they can do if given all three.

No need to worry. It is because you went from breastfeeding to formula. Just keep an eye on if it starts to hurt your baby or not. My son had very bad constipation, very hard painful stools. He has recently started on 'solids' and his stools have changed yet again. Congrats and good luck!

Nahhh.. It's normal. It's how his body is processing the formula. Poop can be almost any color of the rainbow. Only worry if it's black like tar (signs of internal bleeding), white like mayonnaise (signals liver malfunction) or loaded with blood.
Wait until he's older... It'll be all kinds of colors then. (If he eats a magic marker, even better! You think green poop is freaky? Blue is even weirder looking!) =)

His body is probably just adjusting to the new milk. If his poo is solid and he's finding it difficult to pass them try giving cooled boiled water, he might be a little bit constipated. As breast milk is so easily digested it will upset his stomach for a while until his body gets used to the change. If you are concerned you could speak to your health visitor.
Also with reference to Little Peter's answer, granted I'm not a doctor but babies under one year should not have honey it can cause infant botulism and they should not have aspirin either!!

formula poop is green and firm, breast milk poop is yellow and loose. Get a copy of what to expect the first year, it will help you with this and other questions.
