I not sure how to put it any lightly, but I am concerned that my 4 week old baby boy might have something wrong with his privates. The first few weeks after he was born, I was just so happy that he was healthy and didn't really pay attention to anything else. However, as the weeks went on and I gave him baths and changed his diapers I began to realize that his privates probably should not be so small, even though he is only 4 weeks old. A few days ago my son got an awful stare from a lady at a family restroom when I was changing him. It does not look like his testes are descended and you can hardly tell he has a penis. Only a little bit of foreskin can be seen. He does not have much pubic fat so it is probably not buried underneath that. My doctor did not mention anything about this and I am a little embarassed to ask about it. Might he have some hormonal issues while he was developing? What should I do? Should I jus

There is such a thing as a "concealed penis" - it happens, but it's rare. Chances are though, at 4 weeks old, there's nothing wrong - it's probably the fat pad. Don't be embarassed to ask the doctor about it - it's nothing that could shock them or make them think you're weird.

If it's your first child, anything that concerns you is worth mentioning to the doctor.

when you have a new born or any aged kids,it's good that you ask the doctor as many questions as possible,i am a parent of two boys and i make sure that nothing is wrong down there,my oldest son was born with one testicle the other one had not come down it was a big concern for me because he will need that second testicle you understand.well his doctor did a checkup and missed the problem.guess what i was there asking question how, when, where, what happened.what can you do to correct this problem, will he be able to have kids, will he have to have surgery, what else doc.you have to ask questions,if not they wont answer themselves.stop being shy and ask.it could be something wrong there if you cant see the manhood or it's just small and may grow when he grows.

It's possible that his testicles might have not descended yet. Alot of times they take a while to descend especially if baby was a little early. My brother was born and his testicles hadn't descended yet, they were a little above his penis in the pubic area. They didn't descend on their own and when he was about a year old he ended up having a surgery to bring them down. It happens sometimes and it's something that you might want to ask your doctor about.

It is definitely not something you should be embarrassed to ask his dr. about. It is actually routine for the dr. to examine that area, especially if a circumsission was performed. If he looked at it and didn't say anything it must be fine. But, the next appt. he has, just ask the dr. if it is supposed to look the way it does and he will tell you. I will tell you that I do know that it is normal for babies privates to look "not normal" in different ways.
