The Cars have a bunch of "2-chord wonders".
Madonna's first performance where she actually learned to play and accompanied herself on acoustic guitar (a couple of years ago) had a whopping 2 chords. I can't remember the name of the song. While she was technically accurate and precise in her playing, it was just that -- technical -- not from a true guitar player (her singing was "Madonna", though).

Most punk rock songs only 2 or 3 chords. I think the Beatles early stuff was also only 3 chords.
