Carpet? Wood floor? Linoleum? Parquet?
What's your favorite, & why?
I'm considering wood floors, just for the sake of 'cleaning ease'....but I'm afraid it might get too cold in the winter. (I'm in WI).

Thoughts, ideas, recommendations??!!

WE HAVE PERGO FLOORS. I LOVE THEM, I 'LL NEVER HAVE CARPET(EXCEPT FOR AREA RUGS) AGAIN.. AS FOR THE COLD FLOORS, THAT'S WHAT SLIPPERS ARE FOR, SILLY

Awful, hideous grey carpet that has to be the cheapest brand the former owners could possibly get (it sheds like crazy and we are always finding spots where it's starting to split) and linoleum. I actually want to get either wood flooring or bamboo depending on the cost and replace the linoleum with tile.

Wood is always best and it increases the value of your home and in the snow belt where you are you do not want carpet = wet, dirty, smelly, mold, sneeze forever. Carpet is only in homes because it is a way for builders to save lots and lots of money in construction and still charge you the big bucks. Washable throw rugs and cleanable oriental carpets on hardwood are the only good, classy, easy, clean option. As someone else said - that is what slippers are for.

we have a high grade carpet everwhere but the kitchen (linoleum). Loved it, until we got a puppy, he made a mess of everything. our old house had wood floors. I miss it.

Our house in Florida has Terrazzo floors. Bits of shiny rocks and shells in cement that is highly polished. They are so easy to clean.
