I don't have the rule book handy. An educated guess is that the person making the last out can replace the injured runner. That's the rule for courtesy runners, which is in some leagues.

If the player can not continue in the game, he comes out of the batting order. So if a team had 10 players, it goes down to 9 for the rest of the game. If the injured player hit third, the batting order would go 1-2-4-5-6...
