I'm a female scorpio and I definetly know the characteristics I posess. I'm a strong will person. I'm ambitious to a fault and always pressing forward to the next level. Intelligent, mysterious, fun to hang out with, intense in her feelings, deep at her thoughs, understandable, open minded, trust worth, responsible, kind, supportive.
Harsh when moody, dangerous, destructive speech, stinging comments, sharp when annoyed and do not say sorry when wrong but prefer to act supportive to show she considers her mistake and she still cares.
I would disagree a bit here with Diora saying a Scorpio would revenge after accepting the apology of someone who says sorry because the Scorpio is honest, and when she receives really honest apology she would forgive and forget as if never happened, of course when the mistake was not purposely and when the person who has fault is really true in her/his apology. I won't deny the vindictive nature of the Scorpio but the revenge, carefully planned is a an action of defending reaction and it can be provoked by someone who is arrogant and who really deserves to learn a lesson, not at a person who truly regret and says sorry!
I really admire some characteristic traits of my Scorpio friends, they are strong and are not afraid to cope with scary situation with confidence, they are brave but sometimes they hurt the people they care with a harsh tone. Later when they realize it they are kind and because I care much for them I forgive it and I accept their different moods, as they accept my Taurus stubbornness and inflexible thinking.
As a conclusion I think Scorpio people can be great friends.

All of the above plus a hint of innocents. I dig Taurus chicks because they are quiet, dignified, reserved, but have healthy apatite for everything. Cancer girls as well because they are quirky and caring. Virgos are good too. Good for snuggle. Capricorns are OK. Sensible in all the good ways... bit of a killjoy sometimes. Put plainly. Any sensible chick that's going to curb self destructive tendencies and likes to make out a lot. Edit: Hi "yttaplorac", don't get so worked up about "Anonymous" below you. She makes fun of everybody. She doesn't mean any harm by what she says. Energy is neither good nor bad, it is how we use it.
My best friend is a scorpio. She has always been there for me. Scorpios can be rather intense, but they will also stand up with you and are fiercely loyal. You can't ask for a more true blue friend.
They are also very perceptive, they feel your pain. Just don't betray a scorpio, or you will feel their sting.
Finally, we are more than our sun sign, which is just the personality. We are our moon sign (how we are emotionally), our mercury sign (the thinking process), our venus sign (the things we appreciate).
