That would depend upon the context in which he meant it. I love a lot of people in my life. I still harbor a certain love for my ex husband, he is after all the father of my daughter and I am thankful of that gift from him. I love my friends because they always have my back and are there for me when I need them. I love my significant other. There are many degrees of love. If I overheard my spouse telling his ex that he loved her it wouldn't bother me at all...I am after all the one he crawls into bed with at night.

i'm sure this will go against poular opinion. i still love all my exes. we split up, not venomously but because it was the right thing for both of us. love should not just disappear. because he said it, does NOT mean he loves her more than you--does NOT mean he wants to leave you for her--does NOT mean he is fooling around.

you know your spouse, so only you know what is most likely. from reading about so many miserable relationships on this board--one would probably suppose he/she is cheating. follow your own instincts.

If they were really married and put in lots of years and kids and divorced on good terms, then he will always love her, she is the mother of his children and have love history. You can say I love you a bunch of different ways with different meanings. I love my car but I won't marry it. If they dated for a while with no kids then leave him, he's playin both sides.

Confront him as soon as he said it, accept that you did hear what you just heard, and file for divorce. I always said the worst thing a man could do to me (aside from beating or killing me) was to be with me when he'd rather be with someone else. Pretending it didn't happen only hurts you more.

Grab the phone from him, beat him with it. While he in unconcious, drag him outside in the lawn without his keys and lock the doors. Then throw his belongings out on the lawn out the highest window you have, so some of it breaks. Then, kick back with a cold one.

I'm divorced and my ex accidentally said it to me. I think it might have been a mistake. Guys are like robots...They just say it.
