Coil keeps going out on car .Have a 90 buick skylark. Had the coil replaced 3 years ago. Is this normal for this to do? My mechanic says it powers 2 cylinders.

Replace your plug wires with high quality ones (I like the Standard brand). A bad wire can make the coil pack go bad.

I just went through this some problem with a Pontiac. I replaced a bad coil and two days later the car was acting up. It turns out that a plug wire had a bad spot and it was shorting out!!

New wires and coil packs, and the car runs great!!

True, it does provide spark for 2 cylinders, but is this the exact same coil for the same 2 clylinders? there are 2 for a 4 cylinder, 3 for a 6 cylinder., etc.

they go at times the new replacements are never as good as the original. you would be better off to get a used coil from a wrecked car
