I bet you didn't adjust the switch after you replaced it. Look at the switch plunger. It should be fully depressed and against the brake pedal shank. If it's not, pull up on the pedal and slide the switch toward the pedal shank until the plunger is fully depressed. Brake light should work normally now. If they don't, there maybe a wiring problem causing them to stay on.

If you changed the switch, you may not have it adjusted properly or you may have a defective switch or you could have the wrong switch. Push the post on the switch until it bottoms out - the brake lights should go off. If not, replace the switch with a good one

Is the brake light swich adjusted properly?

You may also have a short in the wiring or turn signal switch, but thats almost impossible to fix with this post.

Something has happend to your Lumina. There was something in the trunk that got slung around or something has hit and damaged the wiring to your brake lights. I thought Brake light switch as soon as I read your question...but seeing that you have replaced it then there has to be a short in the wires to your brake lights.

Push the plastic button on the brake switch by hand. I'm betting that it's too close to the brake petal and the button isn't releasing all the way to make the switch work.

The brake pedal isn't coming back up all of the way. It's probably sticking.
