Generally speaking no, they were too small, seen primarily as a dwelling place for the god or goddess. most Greek rites took place outside or before the temple.

Greek and Roman temples were never meant to hold a congregation. They were the the dwelling place for the gods or goddesses. With all the columns inside there would not have been room for a congregation. When Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, the fathers of the Church used the Roman law court the "basilica" as the form for the first churches. They roofed it and made it a building whereas before it was a court and open to the sky. I hope that this has been a help to you.
