I love taking the babies to the pool! There is lots of things that you can do with a baby in the pool. They love to play with beach balls and bounce around in the water you should try getting a float that she cant get out of she might fuss a little at first but she will get used to it and love it. If you need anymore suggestions you can conntact me at littlebabygoose@yahoo.com

My daughter loves her float with a canopy (got it from target for $14 I think), she just chills in the pool. It has netting for pool toys so the toys stay nearby (provided she doesn't chuck them too far). As for outside of the pool...if you want to soak up some sun and get her to relax and maybe nap, the best bet is the pack n' play...otherwise you can always just bring the pad from the pack n' play for a play spot....or you can use a yoga mat if you have one (not too expensive at Wal-mart if you want to get). Create a play spot for her and bring some toys for her and see if she'll play with anything in particular. It can't hurt to try the toys. If you have an oversized umbrella at home bring it along and set it up so her play spot is shaded. Also bring along some juice/water and snacks...cheerios are fun after swimming, they stick to your fingers! LOL Good luck!

Better ask your pediatrician on that one....our general practitioner strongly endorsed NO swimming in a chlorinated pool (indoor OR out of doors) till 6 months of age. Yours is eight months so it must be excellent. Our document stated that the American Academy of Pediatrics says that swimming under 6 months of age in a chlorinated pool raises the threat of youth bronchial asthma (seeing that of the tough chemical substances) and dermis problems like ecxema. So, examine first to be certain.

Are you taking an older sibling to the pool? Limit the amount of time you all spend there.
If not, don't take her for longer than she wants to be there. If YOU want to spend time at the pool, leave her with a sitter so she can enjoy being inside where its cool.
Just because she's shaded doesn't mean she can't overheat. Infants really do not need to be outside for extended periods of time.

the best thing i bought for mine when they were young were the bouncy seats that vibrate, they would sit and play with the attached toys and let it vibrate them right to sleep most of the time. and it has straps so you don't have to worry about her falling out. They cost about $30 but they are so worth it. and some of them even have the shade on top to keep her out of direct sun.. good luck and be careful.

At that young age, that is all she should be getting. Unless you get a pack n play with a full shade, its time for baby to go inside!

just keep an eye on her ALL the time...and have fun, buy some plastic floating animals (those for bath tubs) and play with her in the pool.

Well Susan, you can throw him in the pool and jump in after him. Maybe he will learn to swim like the dolphins.
