I plan to get tickets for Wicked the musical. However, there is a fairly high convenience charge PER ticket when I try to order from ticketmaster.com. It is $9.25 per ticket, which I'd really rather not pay considering the high price of the tickets already. I'm simply a college student working part time. I will be watching this in Boston, MA. Does anyone know how I can order tickets without the convenience charge?

There is also a building facility charge or $2.50 per ticket. Is that avoidable as well?

Also, is there any way I can still get tickets for good seats? I stupidly did not know that tickets would get sold so fast because I've never been to a musical since elementary school.

I just checked all of the weekends, and some are completely sold out while others are only left with limited view seats.. I'm almost desparate enough to pay the convenience charge. Is the limited view really bad?

Sorry for so many questions in one post.

The facility charge is unavoidable, but you can avoid TicketMaster fees by going directly to the box office. If you buy from eBay you have to hope that you get the tickets for less than the tickets are worth and while that's possible, it's unlikely. You also make get ripped off for shipping charges. You may want to search for discount ticket services in case they have unsold seats you may be able to get a last minute bargain, but if it's important to you to see the show secure your seats because the show is a limited engagement in your area and you don't want to miss it.

If you have time, you can try to get the front row seats they do a lottery for two and a half hours or so before the show. Call the theatre to see if they're doing this at your theatre. They draw names for anyone who wants these tickets and is there by the appointed time. They only have so many tickets, usually in the front row and if your name gets picked then you get two $25 seats (cash only) for that show. The seats must be used by you and your guest (photo ID is required). I do not know if all tour locations do this, but they did it the last time the show was in Los Angeles, I don't know about this time and I don't know about Boston. It couldn't hurt to ask!

Good luck!

I'm going to go when Wicked is in Boston too!! I go to BU btw.

Service charge sucks, but what my friends and I do is buy like 20 tickets at the group rate and sell the extras to friends and random people. Just make sure you get the cash before you give people the tickets.

You can also try student rush/the lottery the day of performance. Or buy tickets full price directly from the box office to avoid the service charge.

The building facility fee you cannot avoid because the profit goes directly to the theater (Boston Opera House).

Good Luck
