I want to go into business for myself. The coffee business seems easy and profitable. But I don't know if it would go over in a southern state, tea drinkers ya'll know.
Any opinions?

Kentucky is usually considered Southern and every bookstore and mall here has a coffeeshop, not to mention the Starbucks all over the place.

I don't know how well a coffeeshop would go down in the really rural areas, but that is more likely due to low customer base to begin with, not many diners out there either.

If you can start one in an urban area it should go down alright if you pick a good location.

And make tea. Sweet tea and unsweet. Nothing would be as nice as having a drink that I like available when my friends want to do their coffee thing. Plus tea is cheap as hell to make and sell. McDonalds is probably making 80cents per cup for their new dollar large sweet tea promotion here, and most of that cost is probably going to the cost of the cup.

People like coffee in the south. We got a Starbucks last year in OK and it is doing very well. There's always a line everytime I go. And also, I'm a tea drinker.

There are quite a few drive through coffee shops here in Jackson, MS. Starbucks, Seattle Drip, etc. They seem to be doing fine.

Southern states are known for drinking tea; you are right. However, we are also coffee drinkers. I think it would be an excellent idea!

Washington state is SATURATED with places like that (my wife's best friend who lives near Seattle was looking into one until she found out how much competition she would have). If you're anywhere near a military installation or a plant that has round-the-clock shifts you'll make GREAT money.

I can tell you I'm from Georgia, and people here love their coffee. So I think that it would go over very well.
