This makes me mad, that people say he is the best. yes, he is good, but look at Herman Li of dragonForce, or Joe Perry of Aerosmith, or Jimmy Page from teh legendary Led Zeppelin. yes, slash is good, but most of his songs just sound the same, and all those others are waaay better.

Because one person said it, another person agreed, and it snowballed from there until it became common knowledge. Slash is a great soloist, but not the best. And his tone is exactly the same in everything he does.
I'd put Jimmy Page far ahead of Joe Perry...Perry is just too sloppy for my tastes.

None of the aforementioned guitarists, including Clapton, Eddie and all others would be anything today without the major influence of the first. And that top honor goes to:
Jimmie Hendrix!!

You're correct; he's good but there are many others who are also good. I wouldn't call him the "best."
Some of the most tasteful licks and solos come from people like Clapton and Santana, also Gilmour.
And, of course, "best" rock guitarist is more than mere speed or volume; it's a combination of taste, phrasing, innovation, etc.

Zeppelin's overrated. Perry's okay. don't know about Herman Li of dragon force...What about Tom Morello from Audioslave/Rage Against the Machine? Prince is a pretty good guitarist too. but, HENDRIX is the GREATEST of all time!

Slash has nothing . He sucks as a guitarist. In fact right now, I'm comparing, his guitaring to BucketHead, Herman Li, I so agree with you.

I don't know, but they're wrong. Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde and Van Halen at least are better than him. I don't even know who he is. So he obviously isn't famous.
