I just started wearing tampons a couple months ago, and every time I change it, blood gets all over the applicator and half of the string. I have to wear a pantyliner or else the blood on the string gets on my underwear. is that supposed to happen?
I do clean it up before I put it in after I take it out and im pretty sure I have it in all the way because I never feel it.
but sometimes when I put it in, it just stops, like there's a wall, and I move it around because I know its the nerves or whatever but I still can't find it or something so I just push it in harder?
I don't know, im kind of confused.
I would love any help.

If you accidentally leave the tampon in too long you will begin to bleed through so that's why you may find blood all over the applicator and on the string. For the first day or so of your period when it is most heavy you may want to wear a pantiliner for backup, just in case. I too hit a "wall" when putting one in and have to actually put the tampon in kind of to an angle. Not sure why that is but I'm 38, have two kids and never had any health problems so I guess it's normal. Just check the string frequently while wearing them. If you see blood on the string, chances are it's time to change it. Keep using them. Once you get used to them it makes life alot easier, especially if you are athletic or like to swim. Better than having that diaper between your legs.

You might need to move to a larger size tampon. If you are using light or regular go to super. I know this might seem scary because you just started using them but I was 10 whenever I got my period and immediately had to use bigger tampons. We are just blessed with a heavier flow than most girls. Also, make sure you are changing it every four hours though you may have to do it less with a bigger tampon size.
You may want to try a new brand. Some brands are just not the same quality. I use Kotex or Playtex. Stick with plastic applicators. Good luck!

Sounds like you aren't using a sufficient strength tampon for your amount of flow or you aren't changing often enough, the blood runs down the string because the tampon has absorbed the maximum amount of fluid and then it just flows around it and down the string... trying changing more often and if that doesn't work then go to a stronger absorbency

it sounds like you aren't changing often enough, you allow the tampon to become saturated so blood leaks around it. You need to change a tampon at least every two hours if not more frequently depending on the heaviness of your flow. Leaving it in longer than that can not only lead to the leakage you have experienced, it leaves you wide open to toxic shock syndrome which can be FATAL. So be smart, change your tampon at least every two hours.

If blood is getting on the string you might not be using a the right absobency tampon. Blood will get on the applicator since you are inserting that into the vagina but the string should not get blood on it.

that wall that you are hitting is your cervix . . . don't push it in anymore, you might hurt yourself. if a tampon gets lost, make an ob-gyn appointment and they can get it out for you. it has never happened to me personally, but I've heard stories. and don't leave it in longer than 8 hrs . . . it will build up bacteria that your body can't fight off (if it's stuck make it a priority to get out).
with the blood issue . . . that happens sometimes. you might want to move up a size i.e. lite flow tampon to regular. But is normal to get blood on the applicator, fingers, undies, when you use a tampon

Before the blood dries pour a little peroxide on your panties wait a minute or so and rinse them under water or if you are doing laundry that very moment throw them in its like it never happened. It comes right out.

Sounds to me like you're wearing one that's too small for your heavy flow. Try a bigger size. When pulling it out, wrap your hand in some toilet paper do you don't get it all over you. Also, read the directions again and make sure you're inserting it correctly.

use a playtex wipe before you put in the tampon to wipe away any blood on the outside of your body. it's completely normal. most women don't notice the little bit of blood.

That happens to all of us. It's a pain in the rear, but most all of my panties have a little stain on them. It's no big deal...If you want to get rid of any stains, just buy a good stain stick or Tide To Go and wash them right away. Otherwise, you can just buy cheap Wal-Mart panties and wear them during that time of the month.
That's why they make panty liners.
Good luck!
