Ask the Irish or Scots.....me i think he was evil person.....look what he did to the levellers or the diggers(english point of view there)....lol

He is a mixed bag. He demonstrated the power of the monarchy was not absolute and that it could be removed. He failed when it came to establishing a republican form of government because he became a tyrant in his own regard.

Cromwell was an important step towards the evolution of Parliament dominated system in the UK.

When one goes to England and Ireland it is amazing how much he and his followers destroyed. It is a huge tragedy. There is a reason why he was removed, because he was far more destructive than positive.
