Hi!I'm on my 29th week now and i'm a little worried that we still don't have a car just in case I needed to go to the hospital any time from now until the 40th week. My husband and I are planning on purchasing one but he wants to pay in cash and not thru financing. He wants to save as much until the last minute before he goes out and buys one. I've heard of pregnant women deliver as early as on their 26th week and my worry is what if the time to deliver if anytime soon. How can we get to the hospital? Will the hospital nurse allow us to bring home our baby in a cab? How can I convince him to start looking for one now?

That's a tough one, tell him to get a car, or you'll go stay at your parents house till you go into labor so you have a way to the hospital, it is putting WAY to much stress on you right now worrying about how your going to get to the hospital, put your foot down!!!!

No pregnant woman should deliver at 26 wks. Anything before 36 wks is preterm labor. If this is your first baby, 38-41 wks is the norm. You can always call a taxi or an ambulance if you don't get a car in time. Lots of women in bigger cities don't have cars because of modems of public transportation, but I don't blame you for feeling the need to get a car ASAP. I can't imagine not having a vehicle after the baby is born. Dr's appts, grocery store, emergencies, etc.

I am in the same position except that my fiance and I live a block (literally) away from my parents house and I guess they plan on driving me to the hospital when I start having contractions if we don't get a car before then...and I'm still 27 weeks so I still have some time to go. Unless something goes wrong or I go into pre-term labor I'm sure my mom will take me.
If your parents live close enough or really love you they will make the time to take you to hospital when the time comes.

You'd get there in a cab or an ambulance. As long as you have a car seat, you can leave...at least at the hospital I had my daughter in, you can. You could take that car seat and get on a bus, in a cab, or in your car. I had to take the car seat into the hospital and the nurses made sure she was in the seat properly. Past that, you're on your own.

You can always call 911 if you go into labor before the car is bought. I would strongly suggest that he go ahead and buy a car though. The hospital does require that you have a car seat they don't who's car it is in. Maybe a family member could pick yal up and take yall home if you don't have a car by then. My mom was the one that took me & my son home....and I have a car. So good luck.

if you go into preamture labor call 911 and take an ambulance to the hospital.

and yes, you can take the baby home in a cab, on a bus, in a stroller. You just have to have a carseat so the child is safe in the car/cab/bus ect.

as long as you have a car seat you can take you baby home. I would say start looking for him. If he asks you why you are looking tell him what you are worried about. Congrats and Good Luck on everything
