Oh yeah. We got some Lance Armstrong wannabees near my apartment, all the time they ride right in the street with the traffic. And the punk kids that ride out in front of cars are no picnic either.

So if a bike rider hits your car, it's dangerous to you because of an accident & insurance rates. But if a bike rider hits some elderly person walking along a sidewalk (because they can't walk in the street) then they wind up with broken bones, possible concussion, higher health insurance rates, which they already can't afford.
Leave'em in the street, please. I know they're an irritant, but it beats the heck out of killing/maiming old people.

They shouldn't be allowed anywhere but bike paths! When they drive on the sidewalk they take out the pedestrians. Where I live there are special bike lanes on streets just for them but many don't use them! I think that they believe their bikes are cars.

that would be a good idea except in the city in which i live bicycles are not allowed on the sidewalks and when riding in the street they are suppose to follow the same rules as a person who drives a car

It's sad, but some towns don't allow bikes on the sidewalk...I think it's soooo dangerous having them on the street...I'm buying one this weekend, and you can bet, whether they want me in the street or not, I WILL be on the sidewalk!!!

Problem is that if they ride on the sidewalk they knock down people walking on the sidewalk. They should be on the street, but they should be more careful.

If they drive in the sidewalk they might hit a pedestrian. A smart cyclist should not be an annoyance to a driver. A stupid cyclist is a danger to himself/herself and everyone in the vicinity, pedestrian or otherwise.
