It's silly. Don't they have better things to do?
In all honesty, the German government is a little sketchy on freedom of religion in general...

In Germany, Scientology is classified as a Cult, and therefore illegal by German Law.
Kind of makes America look a little more "Tolerant" than the rest of the world some say are more "Civilized and Enlightened" than we are.....
So why is it again some are so interested on getting their approval of our Government???

I hadn't heard of the movie, so I Googled it. The movie is "Valkyrie"
Yup. It looks like the son of the would-be assassin really hates Tom Cruise and Scientology.
"Anti-Hitler hero's son rejects Tom Cruise
From correspondents in Berlin
June 23, 2007 01:48am
Article from: Agence France-Presse
THE oldest son of a German aristocrat behind an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1944 blasted plans by Tom Cruise to play his father in an upcoming film.
The son of Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg said in an interview in yesterday's Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper that he objected to the actor's involvement with the Church of Scientology, adding that Cruise “should keep his hands off my father”.
“I hoped for a while that it was all just a publicity stunt by Mr Cruise,” said Berthold von Stauffenberg, 72, referring to plans by the Hollywood star to appear as his father in the film, Valkyrie, to be made this summer by director Bryan Singer (Superman Returns).
“It is sure to be crap. Of course, I could be wrong - I would like to be.”

Germany seems to be leary of cultists scoping out thier military bases. Probably not much real danger of the Scientologist trying to aproriate a German military base and use it to stage a coup or anything like that, but national security is a touchy issue for any nation.

See, scientology is sort of a border line "religion".. it's more of a cult than a religon and it actually does harm. It has more money than you can shake a stick at, yet how much work does it do with the poor? Freedom of religon is one thing. But if your religon is taking advantage of other people and taking thier money... well you can't hide behind freedom of religion and expect to do whatever you want. I think these quacks need to know that the world rejects thier lunacy.

Really...I know it is because Scientology is a cult and they have a law against cults scamming people of their money...but should we not be grateful that they are trying to block a Tom Cruise movie? In the long run they could be saving us.

Yes. Scientology is a scam. It's not a religion, they exist only to con people out of their money.
The fact that it's an "anti-Hitler" movie has nothing to do with the opposition. MI3 was boycotted as well.

I realize that Germany would like the rest of the world to forget about the tiny little issue of them invading ALL of Western and Eastern Europe in the early 1940s in an attempt to take over the modern world and the MURDER of over 6 million Jews! But you can't errase history! Sorry! It's the price you and your country pay for being the scum of humanity.

Well, it is their country, and if that is how they choose to run it, then that is it. I am an American citizen - I have a say here, not there.
And it is Tom Cruise. He has proven himself a bit unstable on more than one occasion. . .
