Just out of curiosity, without looking it up on tinternet if you please coz id like to see what you really think, do any of you know the difference between:
England, Great Britain, United Kingdom, British Isles.
Just write down what you think each of these are, and what they include. Im trying not to sound patronising, but would be interesting. :)

England is a country, one land mass. Great Britian comprises both England and Scotland. United Kingdom comprises Great Britiain, including Ireland. And all the islands are referred to as the British Isles. That without checking the internet!

okay this is testing my geography here is my understanding:

England is one of the countries of great britain.
United Kingdom is the the combination of great britain and northern ireland
Great Britain is the largest of the british isles which comprises of ESW, England Scotland and Wales.
British Isles (i am a little fuzzy on this one) but I thought that referred to all of the islands of the combination of U.K. and Ireland, plus the isle of Man and the smaller channel islands.

I am an American but I apologize if I am incorrect on any of these definitions. Mind you I am trying to remember high school and college geography.
