Has alot to do with the fact that parents now more then ever are expected to be more "peers" to their childern as oppose to actual parents. This on top of that has alot to do with the lost of the "Master" role are parents use to have for us. Not the slave-master role, but master-apprientice role, ether way this has perverse in the last hunderd years because its became harder and harder for humanity to pretend that the religious reason that got us here, were right in the frist place. This destroied alot of the confidence parents could stand on and has instilled atleast three generations worth of parents who have rasied their kids based on there insecurities.
