I pulled all the paper out, but it keeps telling me to open the back and pull out the jam. I've opened it several times. I've rebooted my computer several times. Nothing seems to get it over this obsession with jammed paper.

The on-line instruction manual for the MFC-240C is listed below. On page 91 (106 or 148) there is a complete step by step for clearing any paper that is jammed.

After you follow this, remove all of the paper from the tray, then turn the printer off or unplug it for at least 30 seconds. If it does not come up telling you that it is out of paper, but does give the jam error, then there is something wrong with the sensors. You will either have to take it apart to clean a fragment of jammed paper or take it to a repair shop.

It is very important to use 20 pound paper, fan the paper before inserting and making sure the guides are properly adjusted before trying to print. Look at the load paper part of the document below.

Did you get all the paper out. it is very sensitive. Try opening the back up and hitting the paper feed button. Chances are that the smallest sliver of paper is causing you this headache
