I've got a few for you... I'll list at least one book by each author in parentheses. I'm in my twenties and still read these authors. Hope this is helpful!
1. Michelle Magorian (Goodnight Mr. Tom)
2. Monica Furlong (Juniper)
3. Cynthia Voigt (Come a Stranger)

J.K. Rowling, and John Flanagan. Rowling (obviously) wrote Harry Potter, and John Flanagan wrote the Ranger's Apprentice Series.

I'd say Stephanie Meyers. She was the author of New Moon and Twlight. If you've read those books you'll know that they are truly great. I hope that some of the Twlight readers agree with me. : )
