The United States liberated from everything they could that was British. That is why we have so many things different including our painful metric system which makes no sense because nobody else uses it. But much of the things were thrown out.
We later forgave the British with all the Beatles & Led Zeppelin albums we bought!

Because of the way british foood tastes. Many Americans were born and raised in Germany,Italy,or France, then they moved to America and opendup restaurants, thus there were many people who taught us what food was supposed to taste like.

Also, it's important to remember that America invented ice.
For this reason , Americans use ice a lot and because we are used to the cooler temperatures, we prefer things like Beer to be cold.

It should also be noted that the concept of drive-up food service never really caught on in Britain.
This is due the the fact that in Britain the driver is sitting on the right side of the car. If they would put the steering wheel on the left, as they do in America, they would find it easier to order and thus visit places like McDonald's more often.
