Regardless of whether you are liberal or conservative, shouldn't you have at least a little bit of humanity and compassion?
I am amazed and apalled at the number of "questions," comments and answers on here supporting Ann Coulter and her heartless attack on Elizabeth Edwards and her family. Attacking her husband's politics is fair game. Mocking the death of her son is not.
Coulter has a right to free speech, but no one has an obligation to listen to, let alone agree with her and even support her when she utters such despicable hate speech.
She is a cruel, sorry excuse for a human being with no decency or humanity. Right-wing, Left-wing, everyone should realize that. It is a sad, sad, and frightening statement about society that so many do not.

My god, I am truly surprised by the heartlessness and vitriolic hatred expressed by so many answers to this question. Some of these are those same people who write in defense of Christianity. I am sure than none of them have ever lost someone they loved and had a very close bond with. Anyone who has could not be so cruel and calloused. I know that a lot of these answers are written by smart-a** teenagers who think they're funny and clever. I am glad that they are in the minority, or the future of this "United" States would be in serious doubt.

DBS wrote: "May be it is the NeoCon doctrine to make fun of deceased young Americans. Who knows?" She may be onto something. They certainly don't seem to care much about the 3,500+ brave young Americans who have died in Iraq. They don't even want their coffins displayed or their names read. Keeping them invisible makes it easier to continue Cheney's war in Iraq.
Maybe we shouldn't expect more from them.

By the way, I am NOT an Edwards supporter. I just think that all human beings deserve dignity and respect, and not to have their most painful losses made fun of and used for someone else's personal gain.

Ann Coulter is a screamer. Her hateful, sleazy and superficially clever speech can only indicate a deeply wounded little girl desperately trying to gain some kind of recognition. Sadly, there is a hole in the bottom of the glass.
No matter how much notoriety she gains by being a sexy hot chick with the morals of Stalin, it's never enough. She resorts to more and more offensive and extreme conduct.
I see that her tantrum is helping Edwards raise money, which is great.
The most interesting question for me is what happened to the poor little thing during her childhood that lead to her turning out this way. Did her daddy ignore her? What strategies did she develop as a child that she has brought with her into adulthood? What kind of personal changes would she have to make to silence the primal scream that is her life?

~I agree with you. I left the Political section because of all the hate! I know if I lost a child, I would NEVER use them to gain votes, and I don't believe the Edwards are either. That's something they want to put behind them. In fact, they deserve praise for staying together through such a tragedy that most would have divorced over.
I'm not an Edwards fan either. I do believe in Karma, and what comes around goes around.~

Ann Coulter makes a living by selling books to people who believe that they think like she does and enjoy the idea of an wise-cracking babe. In reality, she is nothing more than a playground bully who would steal lunch money from a weakling and then pat herself on the back for it. When someone confronts her with logic, she yells over them, as she did Elizabeth Edwards.
The real fools are the people who buy her books and give her an audience for her cruelty. She doesn't agree with them. She is using them for profit. She has no platform except to get attention.
I wonder how they would feel if they were the object of her derision. Blood sport is no fun when it is your blood.
By the way, I don't support Edwards either. I do support human decency, of which she has none. There is no excuse for the way she acted, no matter what her politics or profession is.

First of all, I'm a Canadian conservative and for the most part agree with the Republican platform. I admit I have laughed at a few comments from Ann Coulter in the past including "the only good thing about liberals is they eventually die". I despise John Edwards for his past and his policy platform but I have to say Ann Coulter's comments are way out of line. No matter how much you disagree with someone, or how insulted you feel you should never stoop to their level. The left calling for Cheney's death does not excuse Republicans to call for death of certain Democrats. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Coulter should be ashamed.

Gutless Wonders of which there are many on YA have heeded the rallying cry of Ms. Coulter for years and will continue to do so.
Hitler and Coulter share many traits as do their followers.
She will continue to rally the lunatic fringe who are eager to hear more from her vapid mouth. She does not deserve an ounce of attention from any reasonable minded person. Clearly you are expecting too much of the Y/A respondents who are chomping at the bit to defend the Coultergeist.

Wow. I haven't read of this story but just searched this and read the dialogue between Elizabeth and Ann and I must say... Ann was being a b*tch! I mean, losing a child is hard enough... why does she have to attack Elizabeth just when her cancer has returned and bring back horrible memories of her deceased son?
Ann really has no dignity and has absolutely no right to insult Elizabeth's family.
Right now, I hope Ann's career goes BLOOP down the drain :)

What you say about Coultergeist is true. But you and everyone else continue to miss the point. Ann Coultergeist is the best self-promoter since Muhammad Ali. She purposely says outrageous, hateful things to grab attention, get interviews, and sell books. She couldn't care less what people say about her. It's all an act; a very contrived act to stay in the limelight. Obviously her plan has been successful. She's filthy rich and continues to attract attention. If everyone just inored her, she'd eventually disappear.

Ann Coulter is a booger eatin' moron who has no care or compassion in her anywhere. You can take all her writing skill and fit into the navel of a flea and still have room for two mustard seeds and her heart.
The trouble with vitreol, it gets everywhere when you splash it around.

"She is a cruel, sorry excuse for a human being with no decency or humanity".
You are right on brother.
She portrays herself as a Christian and Patriot, yet she is neither.
Occasionally I find her mildly amusing, but most often I find her vile and acerbic.
It is a very sad statement that she has so many followers of her hate based ideals.

Ann Coulter is an unfeeling person who has nothing but her own personal agenda on her mind. She is a perfect example of what is horrible about this country. She is a vile woman...I hope her 15 minutes of fame is quickly approaching 14:59.
