What i mean by saying "bypass disney" is neither me my husband nor our 15 year son have any desire to actually go to "disney" and I knew animal kingdom was ran by disney, however I wasnt sure if you could get a seperate admission only into the animal kingdom part, but now that I know you have to actually buy a disney ticket, we wont be going..we will just stick with sea world and gatorland

Disney World is divided into separate parks. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach Water park, Typhoon Lagoon and then there is also Downtown Disney. Although, you said you have no desire to go to Disney I think you are thinking of the Magic Kingdom which has more things geared toward little children. However, if you bought a park hopper ticket you would not be sorry. There are so many things that you, your husband, and 15 year old would enjoy in all of the parks. We go all the time with a 13 year old. My husband and I will continue to go when our three children are all grown. We will be the little old people on a commercial. HA! HA!

Disney has 4 completely separate main parks that are far away from each other.
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
MGM
Animal Kingdom.

If you but a 1 day Disney ticket it can get you into any park you desire. You can go to animal kingdom and no other part of Disney. But just so you know, it is a Disney park, there are characters and animals based on movies and stuff like that. It mainly focuses on animals and safaris and rides though

Animal Kingdom is part of Disney. There are 4 parks in all. Animal Kingdom, MGM, Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. I'm sure you made the same mistake some people make and think the Magic Kingdom is Disney World. That's not true, Its part of Disney World. :) You have to do to Disney to get to Animal Kingdom. There you can get tickets. Hope this helps!

I'm not quite sure I understand your question, but I will give it a shot.

Animal Kingdom is one of the four parks at Disney (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and MGM as well) In order to get into the park you will need to have a pass, but you can just use your ticket to go to Animal Kingdom if that is what you prefer to do. You can buy a pass ahead of time, online or with your travel agent, or you can buy your ticket at the gate when you get to Animal Kingdom. Once you have your pass, you can choose to just go to Animal Kingdom with all your passes, hop around if you get a hopper, or go to different parks on different days, whatever you choose.

Disney also have the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is their resort with animals out on a savannah, very nice resort. If you just want to look around, maybe eat, etc. you can go to the resort without a ticket or anything. Just tell security you are there for dinner or to look around.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any other help!

Disney's Animal Kingdom is one of the four Disney theme parks at Walt Disney World. The four Disney parks include Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom. You can purchase a basic one-day/one-park ticket in person at the park entrance. You can also purchase your tickets in advance online at:
http://www.disneyworld.com
or by calling 407-WDW-INFO

I dont understand what you mean by "bypass Disney" because Disney's Animal Kingdom is a Disney theme park. Walt Disney World is a gigantic property with four theme parks, 20+ resorts, and tons of recreation and enterntainment, its the largest vacation resort in the world. Here is a direct link to the Disney's Animal Kingdom website:

Animal Kingdom is a Disney theme park, and is located in the Walt Disney World Resort (there's also Magic Kingdom, Epcot & MGM Studios).

You'll need to purchase a ticket for admission to Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom is one of the many parks in disney world. Yes you can buy tickets for just animal kingdom, you don't have to go to the other parks to go to animal kingdom.
Each park you want to visit you have to pay seperate admission to it unless you get a park hopper pass.

Easiest way to get there is taking Osceola Pkwy. west and it will take you straight into Animal Kingdom..it's toward the end of Osceola Pkwy..you'll go through a few intersections before you get to it. You'll see where the road splits..1 lane to the left, the rest to the right..take the right that is animal kingdom's entrance. But you probably already know that.

well...how would you not want to go to disney, and just go to animal kingdom? animal kingdom is part of disney. You can buy tickets there, but the prices are crazy and the lines are LONG!! you can buy tickets for animal kingdom only though, and not every other park if that is what you mean. I think you should also go to epcot, and skip animal kingdom. It is my lest faveorite park and i have been there7 times, and am going back for my 8th februrary 2008...have fun though!!

Yes. I had my 3 year old granddaughter and 9 year old nephew with me in January and we had a wonderful time, in spite of their age / height difference! We have been taking our granddaughter to WDW ever since she was 3 months old and every trip has been wonderful! It's all in the planning and in your expectations / attitude. You gear your day around a toddler and a kindergartener, and realize that a one year old is going to be happy just to play anywhere. Plan for some time for the kids to rest / nap, and you will be just fine. Go to the safari first thing in the morning - that's the best time. There's a show with Pocahontas, a Nemo show, the Lion King show, and a playground area in Dinoland. There are many things for them to see & do at Animal Kingdom - it's not exactly a zoo, but there are some "zoo-like" exhibits throughout the park. There's Camp Minnie-Mickey with character greetings too. There really aren't a lot of rides for toddlers at Animal Kingdom, but there is a great experience waiting for them at Rafiki's planet watch! They will receive a little card and be able to collect "stamps" at each area of Animal Kingdom. There are talking trash cans and walking vines! There's a petting zoo, and character greetings. Ride height restrictions vary - your one year old obviously won't be able to ride Expedition Everest or Dinosaur, but your five year old might be tall enough - (however, as much as I love Disney, I would not leave my one year old with anyone I didn't know in order to ride anything, so it's probably best to avoid those two rides for this visit.) You could take both of them to the character dining at Tusker House too! That's lots of fun - they can even dance with the characters off & on throughout the meal time. (Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto) The parade at 4pm is really fun too! I say - GO FOR IT!
