what if our solar system is merely a spec on a flea on the back of a dog in some other larger reality...... dude.... can that happen? like what if our entire universe, makes up one atom of D.N.A for something much bigger? can that happen?

i mean not our solar system, our universe

if you really think about it...its impossible to have "size" in space.

We made our own system of measuring "metric and english etc." but its not like that is the SET system, some guy made it because he needed a system to live by.

I mean their is AU which is astronomical units but that really only works for us because 1 AU is the same as the distance from our Earth to our Sun.

Their are theories but how do we really know...we haven't even been to another solar system besides ours. We've never traveled to the edge of the universe so how do we actually know???

I mean (sorry christians) if God just created us then why are their billions of stars with solar systems around each one.

And every so often astronomers find exoplanets that might have life on them so wouldn't world chaos happen if we found more life "out there" because that would contradict some of the religion we grew up believing.

I just think theories are bull !!! Because we won't actually know, until we ACTUALLY KNOW!

I mean they figured out that it starts out as atoms - dna - cells - the earth - solar system - universe - ???? what if there's just another larger thing out there...like past the universe....i think its very possible that our universe is just like our solar system and that their are many many more and different colors, styles, and shapes...its so possible but we just don't know!!!

Love the question and you should always be thinking of **** like this because thats what makes life interesting!

Ai yi yi.

The short answer is, yes. It's possible. Extremely remote, probably, but possible. The thing is, everything we are capable of knowing about is within our own universe. We can't test anything outside our universe because we have no way of doing that. Theories in astrophysics, such as M-theory, postulate many other universes that may or may not exist. For now, and perhaps forever, they will only exist in the math since we have no way of testing for them.

But the odds of that specifically happening? So close to zero as there is no reason to suspect it at all.

its really an amazing thing to think about. out earth is about 8,000 miles across, but our solar system is a couple billion miles across, and can probably fit millions of earths across it. in addition to that, other solar systems are billions of miles away as well, and there are billions of solar systems in one galaxy. On top of that, there are unknown numbers of galaxies in the universe. Talk about zooming out!

But these sizes are so amazingly large that maybe it can be one atom, ive never thought of it that way. all of this is truley amazing, and the possibilities can be infinant. we already zoomed out this much, i dont see why it cant go further.

Our solar system is nowhere near the size of a flea on a dog's back, it's much smaller. There are a few hundred billion stars in our galaxy and few hundred billion galaxies in the universe. The solar system is only a few light-minutes across while the universe is measured in tens of billions of light years.

Yes it can. Our eyes are observers, made only to see specific things, same with our ears and hearing.

So many things are out of our threshold. Quantum mechanics is an amazing study of how something we perceive to be "here" is "here" only because our eyes see it. That in actuality we are everywhere at once.

Atoms and molecules are composed primarily of nothing...that we can see...so yes, I do believe we are a speck on a flea on the back of a dog...

I enjoy my obscurity, frankly.

It's possible, and we can't prove otherwise. The only universe we know of for sure is the one we live in. Who knows what, if anything, is beyond it?

We define the universe as being "everything," so technically, there can't be anything beyond it. There could certainly be lots of stuff out there that's beyond what we can see or know, though.

I hope this helps.

Since this universe is never ending; it is not possible to have another universe.

Universe definition implies an entity that compasses all. It would be a misnomer if there was other Universes.

According to Einstein everything that exists is the universe so there cannot be another universe. It might be possible to have another plane within the universe but it would still be this universe.
