Humans that do have slightly better eyesight don't have enough of an advantage over others that they will produce more offspring. If they can't produce a higher amount of offspring, the trait won't evolve further.
The lens and the cornea help to focus the images to the eye. Your eyes already pick up colors, but the lens and cornea will allow you to see at different distances depending on how strong they are.

I wouldn't say better, more like different.
Different types of eyes evolved for different types of jobs.
Raptors, like hawks and eagles, have teloscopic vision. Which means they can zoom in on an object like a camera can.
But humans have an amazing ability to distinguish colors
Some animals can only focus one eye at a time or only see moving objects.
As far as eyes go, humans have the best all round vision.
Also, any defect in any part of the eye can affect vision. The Cornea, lens, and retina being the major contributors.

most of the eyesight is determined by how well your cones and rods are working as well as how well the optic nerve recieves the signal as the eye "sees" things. as light hits these cells in the back of the eyes, these cells convert the color combination cones and rods black and white into an image which is projected to the brain through the optic nerve. Some animals have better eyesight for hunting, or the enviornment they live in. For example, eagles have excellent eyesight because they have to hunt at long distances. Owls have excellent eyes at night because they need to be able to hunt in the dark. I hope this helps

It all works together really.
Some animals have better sight because they need better sight for hunting or spotting prey/predators. So they have evolved to have excellent sight. If an animal who needs good vision is born with poor vision it will die off.
We just go get glasses and order a pizza.

Yes, I don't have my book right now, but it's because of their lenses. You know how a camera with better lenses can focus better. So they have better lenses in their eyes. Like eagles and hawks.
sorry, i can't help with more info right now, but I hope that helped.
