The clicking noise is the bendix pulling in. The battery doesn't have enough charge to turn the engine over.

Have the car jump started. If it starts then either the battery or the alternator is bad. It could also be a bad connection with the battery terminals. If it is corroded, it won't get the charge from the alternator. good luck.

It sounds like the new battery was never charged (very unlikely). Years ago, automobile batteries were shipped "dry" -with no electrolyte in the cells. They required adding the electrolyte to each of the 6 cells and then charging. All the automobile batteries I have puchased in the last 20 years were sold "wet" -with electrolyte in the cells and at least a partial charge. The most likely problem is that your new battery was not connected properly. Check the connections again. make sure the connections are tight. Also check to make cure there was no protective covers on the side terminals of the new battery (the mating surfaces should be a shiney gray or silver color.

The clicking with no cranking means your battery is low. It could be one of several problems. Your battery could be bad. Your alternator could be bad. Your voltage regulator could be bad, if it isn't built into the alternator. Your starter relay could be bad. You could have bad/corroded connections between the battery and starter.

If the starter is bad, it will usually only click once, if at all.

Sounds like a dead battery. The rattle you hear is the starter solenoid trying to kick in. Or you may have a bad battery cable.

each engine requires a certain amount of cranking amps to '' turn an engine on'' , if your battery is almost charged enough but not quite you will hear several of loud clicks from the starter. If your battery is really low you might be lucky to hear 1 click. if its DEAD youll hear nothing. ... Mabee some birds or playing children. G/L !

I think that it sounds more like a dead battery or an alternator problem. A low battery would probably sound as if it was about to turn over, but wouldn't,

Rapid click or rattle type noise is probably electrical; battery dying or dead, or not getting juice from alt/soelenoid or loose wire.

That means your battery is discharged...First figure out why the battery discharged (Did you leave the lights on or a door open, maybe you left something plugged in to cig lighter) If it's something you did then correct that and charge your battery.
