Are they afraid of being made out to be fools? Is that why they say the Fairness Doctrine will silence them?

Not some phony shouted-over debate will do here - they will have to broadcast a full, uncut response.

NeoCons know they can never win on an even playing field.

The reason the Fairness Doctrine is a direct assault on talk radio is because of the bureaucratic policies that go with the doctrine. No station staff can handle the administrative nightmare required to comply with the law. Therefore, they will just drop the shows. That's what happened the last time the Fairness Doctrine was tried. No such administrative requirements are included in the doctrine for print and televised media...just radio.

Libs have tried to compete with talk radio and failed miserably, so instead of taking an honest look at why they fail...like the whining, cowards they are... they simply try to make it impossible for talk radio to survive.

I can tell from your question that you've never listened to a conservative radio broadcast in your life. I have heard hundreds of liberals allowed air time on conservative radio. They do a such a great job of showing how stupid the majority of liberal agenda is, that conservative hosts love to put them on the air.

Why don't you just pass a law that states only liberals get freedom of speech. That's what you really want, and that is what the "Fairness Doctrine" is all about.

People who work hard and smart for their money don't like having it stolen from them by a government that believes itself to be Robin Hood. We gravitate to the conservative end of the spectrum because we are damn tired of lazy, ignorant people claiming that we are evil because we want what we earn to help our own family rather than the "poor" guy who can't be bothered showing up to work because he was up all night robbing peoples houses for drug money. We both advertise on conservative radio and buy the services advertised. This makes conservative radio a success and liberal radio a failure.

If you want to hear more liberal ideas expressed on radio, do well at work and use the money you make to buy the goods and services advertised on liberal radio. Be careful though. You just might figure out that working hard will put a bandage on your bleeding heart and turn you into a conservative.

Edit:
Hay, while were at it why don't we just make a law that when you pay for advertisement for your product you have to also advertise all the products you compete against. Then we can just shut down the whole economy and satisfy the ultimate liberal agenda of destroying capitolism and starving everyone to death.

No, it would fuel responses that would not fit into current time slots.

By the way there are a lot of liberal folks here on Yahoo! Answers that do not allow E-mail, or allow others (the public) to see their other questions, or allow others (the public) to see their answers to other questions, and keep them private as well!

I suppose that type of one way thinking in the media is all right with you, though.

Oooosister! There are literally scores if not hundreds of liberals who are invited to defend their positions on conservative radio and television, but refuse!! That's right, REFUSE!!

So, you tell me, what do you think the real purpose of the Fairness Doctrine is?

Many of the conservative broadcasters try to interview the liberals and discuss their positions. However the liberals decline because they do not want to be asked a bunch of hard questions

Thursday edit - I honestly do not believe that some people realize what this bill is. I listened to a interview of George Voinovich by Sean Hannity. Voinovich didn't even know what the fairness doctrine was. Voinovich didn't even understand and he admited that he did not read the immigration bill in the senate. So this shows what kind of bozo's who get elected in this country and they have no idea what they hell the are voting on.

The fairness doctrine is set to protect the politicians from the people. The politicians are the ones pushing this, not the people. I would love to see Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, Beck on Air America. Randi Rhodes couldn't handle the truth, and would choke one of them. Liberals can not compete in the fair market place of talk radio, thus they must change the rules. Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck in that order are 1,2,and 3 in the most listened to category. Air America is struggling with bankruptcy. If the government can silence the people, what chance do we have of defending Capitalism, and our democracy?

The Fairness Doctrine as it applies to talk radio is an attack on the first amendment. Period.

Conservative broadcasters?

ROFLMAO

What weird crystal ball do you look into? There are ONLY liberal broadcasters that's why there are so many lies in the media.

No, of course they won't! They will do what they have to do under the law or they won't be allowed to stay on the air. If that means that they have to allow responses, then they will.

But some of their listeners will probably tune out.

2007-06-27 14:57:43 · answer #10 · answered by Leah 6 · 2 1

That is already allowed.

Its just that nobody tunes in for Liberal radio shows, so they are unable to stay in business.

I'm sure I will get thumbs down from the idiot liberals. Rational liberals understand the implications of the Fairness Doctrine and won't support it.

Edit: LOL. I was right.
