I'm currently in year 10 and I've just finished my mock GCSE exams last week... I don't have my results yet but I know I didn't get B or higher in English and I'm worried i'm going to end up doing foundation paper in the real GCSE exam (the highest grade you can get is a C).

My analysis is strong in my courseworks and I usually get B+/A for them, but the problem is that I make some grammatical mistakes and also that I can't even analyse well like my courseworks when i sit exams- my vocabularies fly out of my brain, and I think/write extremely slowly when it comes to constructing sentences in english.

It was worse yesterday because I felt quite ill and I didn't get to finish my second essay. My teacher knows but I don't think I'll be able to retake it.

If I impress my teacher in year 11 would I be able to take higher exam aiming to get a B? also would I be able to go to a good university even if I get a C in English...?

(English isn't my first language. I have the ability to get A* in maths and an A in double science, and I already have A* Japanese GCSE which I got in year 8. I will probably get an A or a B in French and citizenship and distinctions in my BTEC projects)

Yes, go for it! If you are improving that looks VERY good. To obtain that grade and level, however, do not neglect the time that you are not in the class. During summer, vacations and breaks, make sure you are reading A LOT, and this means, a good and reasonable book a week. Also, make sure you are writing daily. Choose a simple notebooks and write 350-500 words each day. It doesn't matter what you are writing about, it's just that you are forcing yourself to be organized, creative and make sense, and that you are practicing.

The best way to learn to read and write better, is to read and write more. Like everything else in life.

Good luck, you can do this.

I have just finished my GCSE's, no need to worry I didn't do very well in my mock either!
If you impress your teacher and pull your weight in class they will put you in for higher, I only got a C in my mock but I still got placed in for higher.
I am now awaiting my GCSE results and are as nervous as you!
Try your best and you will succeed

I failed my prelim for Higher Biology and ended up getting a C in it.

Although the structure of exams and coursework is different up here, there is still a chance for you.
