it took me about 3 years to even think of going out with a guy again, I met three people since then, but all have ended and everyone around me seem to be either divorced or unhappily married and envy me for being free!!! Right now I am happy to be alone after breaking up with the last guy, and feel cynical about the whole marriage thing, how about you divorced guys and girls out there?

I have been divorced for 12 years. I am getting remarried in August to my fiancee that I have been with for a year and a half. Until I met him, I was resigned to thinking that men were only good for 3 things: working on cars, killing bugs and sex.
But from the first month I was with my fiancee, I knew he was different and I'm 100% sure we are going to have an awesome life together. Your attitude will change when you meet the right person!

I have been divorced for almost 4 years. I have never really been single.Usually 3-4 months down the road I find a new partner and start a new relationship-with a lot of dating in those 3-4 months. I have been married twice and am now in my third relationship-I guess I am a serial monogamist. I am very cynical and don't trust men at all. I have been cheated on by all three so I imagine I will never fully trust anyone. I can tell you I really don't believe in "happily ever after" by any stretch of the imagination. Pretty much feel all men are the same.

Only divorced a little over a year. I was fortunate enough to meet someone that cured me of cynicism about a month after the divorce and I married her last month.

So, depending on the steps you take and the people you meet, yes, eventually you can stop being cynical. You just need to hang out with the right people.

64 year old here . On 4th marriage for 8th year now. I have custody of my 2 girls aged 12 and 16 . I'm not jaded or cynical about females in general, just my exes. I don't care what people think about me or my life -- they aren't the ones that live my life and satisfy my needs. In between "alone" times were nice, too, and I needed that time to get over them. But me, I like to have a body with me at night and to wake up with in the morn. I need the heat; it's cold up here. I wouldn't worry or dwell on your friends marital status's, they are doing or putting up with whatever they want to, the status quo.
When another guy comes along, and he will, he might hit you hard , right in that soft spot and your a goner again. LOL.
Just don't allow yourself to get jaded on all men, just the one that you knew!

I am through with marriage! My first (preacher/teacher ) husband molested our two little boys. My second one was soooo good to my children and we had a beautiful daughter who is the light of my life. He died almost 9 years ago and I haven't had a single minute when I considered trying again. I had one date 7 years ago and it was awful. I am very cynical about the marriage thing and I am so happy living alone. I spend a lot of time with my family and I have wonderful friends and I'm content. Yes, I am free and aim to stay that way!

I was divorced for nearly 6 years before meeting my current husband. I spent a lot of my single time learning to be me; I had fun with friends, spent time being introspective, and in general didn't worry about being attached to anyone else.

I won't lie - I still hate my ex-husband with every fiber of my being, but I've learned to live and let live (if he leaves me alone, I leave him alone - we have a son we share custody of).
