The cell phone signal causes interference in the speakers, that's nothing to worry about.

As far as there being no sound, make sure that you do not have the sound turned down or muted on the actual computer. Do this by going to Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices, and there should be a volume control with a mute setting near by. Play with this to make sure that the sound is working properly.

If this does not fix anything, and your speakers are actually turned on and turned up, then you most likely have a pair of shot speakers...but nine times out of ten it is because the sound got lowered/muted on the computer.

Volume can be controlled at two points, the computer and the speakers. Your computer, also refered to as the mixer, might be turned down all the way. Double-click the little speaker by your clock and make sure your master out and wave out are set to about 85% - that should be about a 0 dB gain which is what you want so your speakers amp does all the work.

If they are PC speakers are they in the right audio port? Is the PC volume up? The phone causes static becasue of the signal emitted from the phone. Normal static may occur depending on what kind of transmission devices are in your city.

First check your cables; they may be loose or defective. If you can swap cables with someone who has a working system it can help you determine if it is the cable.

If the cable is not the problem, try to swap speakers with someone who has good speakers - as you need to determine if it is a speaker malfunction or a problem with the pc feed.

If speakers and cable are ok, then you pc's feed is defective and may need a replacement.

Check these out and get back with a new question so more focused recommendations can be made.

They might be bad...try different speakers and see if they work...if they do, your old ones are bad.
