Can i do this with a cd or without anything

It depends on how the computer manufacturer set it up. many machines come with a restore partition built in as well as restore cd's. Some will ask you to make your restore set when you first boot the machine.
If you could be more specific(i.e. PC manufaturer, model, with or without CD's), I can answer you more directly.

It depends what computer you have. Most give you a CD to perform the restore with, but some have the restore process on a hidden partition that you need a key sequence to enter. Contact your manufacturer if you are unsure.
