I had this computer worked over because of spyware in the registry recently. Sometimes the pdf attachments will open, usually not. Also, I have another computer that I cannot get the email to forward to Outlook Express, I can open it without any problem by going to the web page of the internet provider. Still it is a cumbersome process. Any ideas?

For the system that is having a problem opening PDF files can you verify that PDF files open from disk rather than as an attachment? If you save the PDF to your desktop and then double click, does Acrobat Reader open up? If not, I'd recommend reinstalling Adobe Acrobat to correct the configuration problem (file association would appear to be the issue here) rather than troubleshooting this one.

As for the other computer with Outlook Express problems, check that it is configured to pull emails from your ISP properly. Has the password on your ISP changed recently and maybe you only updated on one client computer? You could try dropping the account in Outlook Express and recreating to see if that resolves the problem too.

First of try and uninstall Adobe reader and then re-install. The spyware might have corrupted some of the registry entries for the software. Also if possible you could try a system restore to a point before the computer had spyware issues. Hope that helps :)

I suspect your Adobe Acrobat Reader was removed during the workover.

Go to www.adobe.com and download their latest version of Acrobat Reader which is free and all should work.
