"The Unicorn (from Latin unus 'one' and cornu 'horn') is a legendary creature."

I've always wondered the same thing myself.
Perhaps, they were originally "unihorns" in Latin and somehow got changed to "unicorns" over time. Or maybe "corn" was the original word for "horn" and that got changed over time.

Uni-corn - from the Latin UNI CORNUS (=One Horn). In a way, it is called a Uni-horn!
